Hey kids, what time is it?
There are certainly flocks around the country that lamb earlier, but our local fields all come alive in early April. We are surrounded on three sides by the little bleaters, my favorite harbinger of Spring.
And on that happy note, I shall wish you a good weekend. Ours will be full of beeeehhhhhhhh, BEEEEEHHHHHHHH, beeeehhhhhhhh.

Really it’s more like “meh” and “ah” — but, you know, long, loud and drawn out. This house is very leaky to sound (and everything else) so the voices of sheep are a big part of our landscape for half the year.
And then we know what he meant by “the silence of the lambs” — though, for us, not quite so sinister. All the sheep go in fall, some to slaughter and some to Winter pasture.

I really like lamb but rarely eat it. But I also like lambs so I may swear it off all together.

@Gromulin. Stoaty drew a charming picture several years ago of a lamb tucked in close to Mama, lying in the sun. I’m sure if you asked her nicely she’d link to it again.

Yes! Thank you for searching. I’ve downloaded the drawing twice—and still couldn’t find in my computer folders. I need one of those professional home organizers for my computer. I save stuff all the time, then can’t find it. I’ll pin it this time 🙂
