Emo president is emo

I watched the whole hour of Obama’s post-election press conference and, honestly, I thought he did okay for the circumstances. And I thought the press did okay asking reasonably stiff questions.

Like he was ever in a bzillion years going to say, “Meh. I guess people just hate my ideas after all.”

Remember that weird obsession the press had with making Bush confess he’d made mistakes? And they thought it was super creepy that he wouldn’t?

Right. The guy on the raft says to the great white sharks, “excuse me, boys, while I toss a little chum your way.”

Same for Obama. So he keeps a straight face and drones on about electric cars and communication. Like Scarlett O’Hara in the slutty red dress, he had to go out there and say the words one more time. Must’ve hurt like a bastard. I cut him slack on this one.

But after this, the hairy eyeball.

I liked his “I don’t recommend taking a shellacking like I did last night…” line.

I just spelled TARSIER in Scrabb.ly (which is now called WordSquared — I guess the lawyers got to ’em). Which made me think of this YouTube that I watched, like, fifty times one night.

Wear headphones.

I’m wondering if he’ll make nice with Boehner. Regardless of what Bush thought, he never said bad things about Pelosi when she was the Speaker. Maybe someone reminded Obama.

“Mr. President if you want two nickles to rub together for your programs there is only one person to see, that’s the Speaker of the House.”

Some of the lefty blogs are already talking about Obama flexing his muscles through Federal agencies.

“Mr. Speaker, Mr. Speaker, the funding bill for the EPA has not been introduced on the House floor!”

“Really? That’s too bad, well, I’ll be at the golf course if anyone is looking for me.”

What they try to do in the lame duck session will tell us a lot about the next two years.

A lot depends on who the outgoing Dems are angrier at: Obama or us.

If they ram through a bunch of bad stuff and he signs it into law, the rest of his term will be a rocky ride.

Pelosi can’t affect the budget now, they basically said “this year’s budget is the same as last year’s” and Obama signed it into law on 9/30 so those appropriations are fixed. At this point, I don’t think she could get a get well soon card passed in the House.

Not so fast, Allen. There’s something called a “supplementary resolution.”

It is always a good idea to walk wide around a sore loser with a firearm.

Ric

Ric, I know, but I’ll bet the Blue Dogs who are out won’t give her the time of day, and that’s about 30 votes.

Imagine 2 or 4 years ago you went to Congress for the first time, that bright shiny new career in politics ahead of you. You trusted the Speaker and what she was saying, little did you realize she had a thin grasp on reality.

Now you’re on your way home in disgrace, dogs bark at you, people cross the street when they see you, and you couldn’t get elected dogcatcher even if you paid yourself. I doubt if any of them would go to the well for Pelosi one last time.

Allen, the budget is not the only thing to worry about, although Ric is entirely correct. What if they decide to pass the cap&tax, er, ummmmm, cap&trade bill? From what I’ve seen of it, that would not be good. Or any other bill that would cut America off at the knees, for that matter.

Yeah, the Blue Dogs are mighty blue right now, but some of them just might do it for the spite. Or because they see it as the right thing to do — whatshisname from Minnesota caved on Obamacare for that very reason.

So it’s something to keep in mind.

Allen @ 1049

Unfortunately, the Continuing Resolution they passed before the recess expires (IIRC) in early December. They have to either pass a budget – unlikely, since they haven’t written any appropriation bills – or pass another CR, or the whole mess grinds to a halt.

Jeff, the House already passed Cap and Trade, it’s the current Senate that shelved it; it’s toast. If Obama tries a go around with the EPA it would take one phone call from Boehner. “Ms. EPA Director Jackson? Future Speaker Boehner here. I’ve called you to give you fair notice, I’ve come across some apparent discrepancies in the spending of your budget, as Congress’ role as budgetary overseer, a full audit might be neccessary.”

Paul, I thought so too, but I looked it up, it’s titled Continuing Appropriations (PL 111-112 I think) and was signed into law by Obama.

Obama is stuck, he has to make nice with Boehner. The upside is, those on the hard left are going to go crazier.

If all else fails, I think the Republicans have enough votes to keep them from getting a quorum and doing any business.

That image is great! the only thing missing are the steaming dump he and his congress left on our nice, clean economy, and the spray bottle that we are punishing them with.

Also, damn you (sort of) for telling me about Scrabb.ly. It is compulsive, I am way too good at it, and I really didn’t need another time wasting hobby! ;D

A non-PC narrative sent to me by an unreconstructed friend.

Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Southerner?

Here is a little test that will help you decide.

You’re walking down a
deserted street with your wife
and two small children.

Suddenly, an Islamic
Terrorist with a huge knife
comes around the corner,
locks eyes with you,
screams obscenities, praises
Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you…

You are carrying a
Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot.
You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What do you do?

Democrat’s Answer:

* Well, that’s not enough information to answer the question!
* Does the man look poor or oppressed?
* Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack?
* Could we run away?
* What does my wife think?
* What about the kids?
* Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand?
* What does the law say about this situation?
* Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it?
* Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
* Is it possible he’d be happy with just killing me?
* Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me?
* If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me?
* Should I call 9-1-1?
* Why is this street so deserted?
* We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day.
* Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior.
* I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
* This is all so confusing!

Republican’s Answer:

Southerner’s Answer:
