Actually, I’d be happy if they could reach attitudes towards women and gays that we had 100 years ago. I mean, I’m pretty sure that in 1911 over here no woman was stoned for being raped, and I’m pretty sure homosexuality wasn’t a hanging offense either.

Edited to add: I don’t buy the “but we have a lot of disgusting habits” argument either. The fact that my sister was a juvenile delinquent would never have been acceptable to my parents as an excuse for any bad behavior I might get into.
