You’re welcome, Ma’am
Aw, now isn’t that nice. The Queen just appeared on television to thank everyone — that means me — who helped organize festivities for her Jubilee. Some monarchs have the nicest manners.
Meanwhile, soon as I dry out a little, I’m sure I’ll be back to blogging about…whatever it is I usually blog about. Chickens and banjos, is it?
p.s. McGoo is not claiming dick for the Trololo guy, so Dead Pool Round 32 rolls on…

That’s a helluva hat Her Maj’s got, there – one thing I really treasure about the British is their sense of ceremonial style. Imagine any U.S. Gubmint female high muckety-muck trying to wear something like that in public, high-celebrational-event or not.
Looks almost like she’s emulating the Papal blessing, there, too.
Good on ya, mum…

I watched the goings on on BBCTV and Fox, and I gotta say our cousins across the pond were on their game during all this. Now if they can roll back the pro-Muzzy Sharia garbage, multi-culti stupidity and the self destructive dance with socialism, they might get to celebrate another grand monarch or two.
Otherwise, they may wind up getting an EU Commissar to fete every May Day.
I like the Old Gal and her Fella, like em a lot.
Not a bit of respect for “Trousers on the Ground” Charles though. Sorry bit of plunder, as my esteemed Grandmother used to say…
Carry on, Liz: you’re doing it right.

Seriously, God Bless The Grand Old Lady and her Household. A nice bit of old Britain preserved for the rest of the world and the UK.

One of our neighbors is a hatter. She made several of the hats for the royal wedding last year (and probably the Jubilee — we haven’t seen her in a while).
Yeah. Um, no. I couldn’t get away with that hat.
A Tilley, maybe.

Say what you will, but she’s got a lot of class and honor. Too bad her kids don’t.

All I could think about while looking at the Queen’s hat is the old Jiffy Pop commercials. From the look of it, the pop corn is about done!

Ghost of a Flea had a video up, a while back, on the Queen’s personal clothier, as well as the seamstresses who created her coronation robe, and another one for some other important event. It was quite interesting.

Speaking of banjos, Sweas, I finally decided to pick up mine and learn to play. It’s been a couple of months of daily practice (my son says his noise-reducing headphones are a godsend) and I’m loving every minute of it.
I think Grandpa would be proud his Vega is still making music.
On a different note, the progs are gnashing teeth and wailing tonight about the WI election.
I love me some Lib tears!

Heh. JuliaM has to be talking about this one.
Becca, shoot me an email if you want pointers to some good online banjo resources. I’m still violently jealous you have your grandfather’s banjo (and it’s a Vega!).

Re: hats. I have wondered what happened to the Queen Mother’s splendid array of hats. She favored a frothy marabou trim, as I recall.
My aunts all wore hats to church, which I loved. But the style seems to have passed on by. A shame.

Ever watch The Wire? They had a whole episode about not messing with a church lady’s hat.

Sure she isn’t just cooling the upper story? She was pretty damn cool already, though.
I wonder, do her choices ever drive fashion? Will toques be ‘in’ now?

I could picture Sheila Jackson Lee in something like that.

That’s funny, because everyone’s busy tearing Aunty a new one over its apparently (I didn’t watch any of it, so I can’t say for certain) shit coverage.

There’s nothing inherently exciting about feting a symbol of state for the UK, but the Fox coverage and the BBC America coverage was really very good, and the flavor was very very British. Surprising that, given the multi-culti nonsense and growing Sharia nonsense that are infecting the British body-politic.
So, yes, for those and other reasons, I think our cousins across the big pond were on their game.
I stand by my opinion. Better than PmsNBC’s god-awful recall race coverage program last night.
So, there’s that.

Thought it was exceptional coverage on BBCAmerica…except for some of the cacca multi-cultural BS involving some puffed up artist/dancer/musician wannabees.
BTW – Does any one have Ray Bradbury in the Dead Pool? Word out just now that he died at home in SoCal.

A couple of Australian Olympic swimmers are in big trouble for having their photos taken holding guns. I hope the same doesn’t happen to the Queen. Maybe, they’ll give her an ASBO!
