I’m going with kittens.

Oh, no. No no no. Deranged gunman, so not my beat. Not when it’s all hot and fresh and chock full of unknowns, anyway.

Let’s go with kittens. Specifically, these two Amur leopard kittens, born about six weeks ago in a big cat sanctuary in Kent.

Amur leopards are from the Russian far East and they’re the most endangered big cats on earth. No more than 35 of them in the wild, and around 100 in captivity. Hundred and two now.

There. Isn’t that better?

I’ll take it. Well, two, they’re small.

They’d make beautiful earmuffs. So rare…no more than 102 pairs.

MUCH better. So tired of hearing the recriminations going back and forth, despite a complete lack of details..

A therapy kangaroo. . .wow! But, oddly–that was fun.

Oh, and yeah–the cheetah kittens are irresistible.

Thanks, I needed that. Been trying to avoid the media as much as possible when they started to call for TSA like security at the movies. Insanity, and I’m not just talking about that poor soul who thought shooting up a theater was a good idea.

I’m pretty sure big cats are much the same as small cats but a small cat would eat you, if it could. You’re just too big and strong.

Kitties!!! I really want a kitten, or two…but I’m currently on staff for a grumpy large black cat with extremely long whiskers and a nasty attitude. But maybe these kittens could kick his furry butt….(really, I do like my kitty cat, I just have to remember he doesn’t LIKE being picked up!)

See the cat on the right — look how his ear is squished back. What is on the tip of it? The one on the left appears to have something similar. Are they tags? They look strange.

Kittens are undeniably cute – I recently acquired two Siamese females, litter-sisters but as different as chalk and cheese. Finding the lilac-point at the top of the velvet curtains in the dining room this morning, however, was not so cute…

Comment from JuliaM

Redd: I don’t think they have eartags yet, they are too young for the process. I think it’s just the coat-pattern showing behind the ear.

Their ears are small even for cubs, but maybe that’s a cold-weather adaptation in this particular subspecies?

I had a pair of lilac points as a kid, JuliaM. Nuttiest damn cats ever. When my mother walked down stairs in the morning in her bathrobe, they’d sit on her coattails and ride ’em down.

Our friends with kittens were pressing their case again yesterday. They’ve got two unclaimed: brother and sister all blacks. They are currently just entering that adorable super athletic stage, where they can skitter to the top of Mount Human in about a second and a half.

We have another friend with kittens. They decided, really, they couldn’t bear to part with them. So now they have two adult cats and five kittens.

And thus it begins. Must. Be. Strong.

I’ll be back Monday night, and I hope we’ll be heading your way (again, we were actually in Battle last week on the spur of the moment after Stonehenge), and we’re all hoping to interrupt the UK kids’ moving for another trip down south. I’m running out of time and money in equal measure. 🙂

Tonight I’ll be attending a memorial concert in Oslo, followed by a party at the home of a friend of the NO kids who survived the island one year ago today.

Dang I wish all my kids were in the same continent!

No, it was spur of the moment and we found ourselves down there without being able to shout out. It was late and we didn’t even get to see the whole thing, which is why we need to go back. It’s top on Mark’s list of my last week there.

No, that’s where Bill the Conq landed in 1066. It was called Senlac before that.

The Abbey you mean, Nina? That’s awesome. I mean, it’s just big and empty and open and you can walk all around and gawp without any guides or anything.

If your first take isn’t spot on, you’re going to have to get new cats, cos no fucking way will they not learn what’s about to happen. & cats have a special way of letting you know when they know what’s up.

We were just wondering if cases were up, or if it’s just one of those clusters that isn’t a cluster.
