presidential

I had never seen this before. Had you? It’s a chunk of Hillary’s offical first lady portrait. I love the near randomness of her props. That’s a weenus picture of the White House, a blue glass…candle holder? A copy of It Takes a Village and a chair.

In the annals of royal iconography, that’s…probably not at all what she was looking for. Why not…oh, a paperweight, a gym sock, an onion and a stepladder?

Anyway, I was browsing pictures of Hillary because I noticed in today’s speech photo, she has a new ‘do. Made me wonder if this is her runnin’-for-president look.

I still think her Bond Villain getup is totally the way to go if she wants to be a world leader, but I’m not holding my breath. Hillary has had so many, many different hairs.

Incidentally, I’m all in favor of Kerry’s accidental gaffe/plan to put Russia in charge of taking stock of Syria’s WMD’s. Sure, it’s pointless — but pointless is a big improvement over all the other options. It would put an end to this thing, save face, extricate our military from this slow-motion clusterfuck and put Vlad on the hook if any more brown people get gassed.

I wonder if any of these bozos has the smarts to go for it.

Every day, a tropical shithole island looks better and better.

Yikes.

I see why you didn’t link it. I’ll bet the artist hung himself with his own smock.

Obama Administration Foreign Policy: Pointless! it’s better than their other options.

Yup, sounds about right

Oh wow, that is an amazingly incompetent painting. Like something David Byrne would have done in the mid 80s.

Today’s news has been, well it has been, that is to say, the news today, especially about Syria and Obama and Kerry has been . . .

Like watching Victor Borge conduct the ‘dance of the clowns’ or nearly anything else for that matter, or a Jack Benny episode, even Groucho Marx.

Check out the entry for ‘Ballyhoo’ : http://www.goodmagic.com/carny/car_a-c.htm

Ya, like that.

It’s pretty bad when your official portrait looks worse than your official photo.

Laura Bush’s portrait isn’t the spittin’ image of her, but it is better to my untrained eye. It seems more fitting for a First Lady, but that might be my patriarchal, establishment-upbringing speaking.

I’ve been watching this bunch of mental defectives for over 5 years now, and have yet to see them do the smart thing. Samantha Power (?!) was apparently counting on Iran suddenly not being a thuggish Theocracy. How’s that again?

Now John F’n Kerry, waterhead extraordinaire, has seemingly bumbled his way into an exit. Blind Pigs, as they say.

Three years out and this wackadoo is already a cause for teeth grinding. Thank god I’m getting an Obama-dentist shortly.

I grew up in the businesses of haute couture (and heavy construction.)

I concur! The Bond villain look WORKS for her! I told her to embrace it a few times last year.

As a young lady, she was every bit the fair slip of a lovely Celtic lass that Chelsea now is. Unfortunately, wisdom has a toll.

Without Assad, there is no Syria. There is also just a boiling lake of stupidity across the Arab world.

Hey Stark!

Me and mine spent the turn of the millenniumin Cayman Brac. They had fish, rum, salt water, shade, and damn near no electricity. They even had to emboss your card on an NCR receipt.

We figured that would be the best place to live if the modern world came to an end.

Sadly, our return flight showed up on 01/02/00 and right on time.

yesterday’s developments RE Syria were a replay of that Paul Newman/James Mason film “the Verdict”, with Kerry in the James Mason role. “Never ask a witness a question to which you do not already know the answer” becomes “Never float an off-the-cuff proposal without already knowing what the response will be.” In one fell swoop, Kerry cut the knees out from under Obama and made Putin the good guy.

Game, set, match – Putin.

Scary thought of the day:

John Kerry is running again.

No, seriously, think about it .. he’s SecState, he’s bungled his boss into a huge success (especially appealing to the anti-war crowd) and .. his time at SecState now trumps Hillary, his time in the Senate trumps Hillary, etc. etc.

Afraid yet? No, me either .. I am, however, stocking up on popcorn and catnip.

Because Stoaty won’t do it for me, I am forced to make my own Mrs. Bill Clinton Paper Doll. And all her clothing—pants suits, ball gowns, corset, walking shorts, bath robe, et cetera) is done in the famous Stripes! You know the ones—-(sorry for the looong Google link):

(Yes. I’ve been shopping for an old Mercedes. Nothing newer than 2003, with less than 100K miles, and not over $8,000.)

Deborah, that chassis of Mercedes, the W124 (as I’m sure you know) is widely considered a fine used car. For a decade I drove used Benzes, and though I love my big ’03 Buick Park Avenue, there are many things I miss about the MBs. Ever drive the big S-class of the Eighties — the W126 sedan that Tom Hanks drove in “Bonfire of the Vanities” and that Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson trashed in “Die Hard 3”? Feels like you’re the King of the Road!

Ah well, Wolfus Aurelius It’s been a steep learning curve for me. I’ve never owned a Mercedes before. But I am not comfortable riding in Husband’s car, and he is not comfortable in my car, so I decided to find a car that we could both ride in without feeling crippled by the time we reach our destination. I do covet an S-class—and I don’t mind old if the car is right. I just wish so many of them were not black. What is it with rich people and black cars? Who in their right mind buys a black car with a black interior in south Texas?

My two favorite Hillary pics,
The first is, “I’ll eat your soul!” from the darkest days of the ’08 election, the second I call, ‘Trailer Park Grandma Hillary’ when she’s going on some diplomatic mission as Sec State.

Below those is my favorite pic with Hillary in it, the one with Natalie Portman looking either cold or excited.

Re: Tim’s first commentI can’t speak to your spciefic example. I suspect that the attacks on the “hockey stick” became so politicized that the authors could not trust how their data would be used. The rest of your comment is just ridiculous. No scientific hypothesis is proven without peer review! Peer review is how science works. If you want to publish something, it has to be vetted by others in the community. And if you want published climate data, it is no secret!! An example. I’m currently doing a study on the Caribbean and western Atlantic, similar to the region studied in those Atlantic Hurricane papers. The historical ocean temperature data I’m using can be downloaded from NOAA and the Hadley Center in the UK (same dataset used by the hurricane papers). The future projections from GFDL’s latest climate models can be downloaded from their site.

So, here again my intuition strtaed to be supported by facts. Please read this link. Interesting that Al Gore is almost American Lysenko. The difference: Lysenko rotted people in jail. Al Gore cut their funding and destroyed reputations./www.opinioneditorials.com/guestcontributors/msheppard_20060630.htmlAs with anything you read please check the facts yourself. Don’t be gavnoedom.
