…and that should be the end of it…

last

It snew pretty much all day today, but that’s it. That’s the end of it. It’s a good ten degrees warmer and we’re expecting rain overnight. By Monday, it should be a distant memory.

I hope. That got tiresome after the first couple of days. The wind was from an unusual quarter, so my toasty little workroom wasn’t. I didn’t really have any warm options other than bed and a book. Which is excellent…for a while.

I’ve seen this much snow here before — no more than four inches at any one time, I reckon — but I’ve not seen weather this cold, snowy and windy for the best part of a week before.

Between you and me, one of my biggest fears is that we’re headed for another little ice age. This isn’t how I picture my twilight years.

Good weekend and stay warm, everyone!

Unfortunately, there is indeed the possibility that we are headed for a significant cooling spell, which may or may not become a little ice age. Damn all that we can do about it.

I wouldn’t mind cooler temps, but I don’t think I could stand hearing all the screeching about how anthropogenic global warming somehow causes increased glaciation and … ad nauseam.

Ragnarok and Fimbulwinter and Brexit

Ice Age? The ice caps will grow, sea levels will fall, and snow will fall in Rome. Hey, the land bridge between England and France will re-appear and refugees can just walk across the channel. Brexit inverted.

Here in So Cal, it’s been raining and temps are in the low 60s. Yeah, feels like an Ice Age is coming.

If the ice caps grow and sea level falls, I’ll have a longer trek from the cabaña to the water. Bummer.

Saw videos of some nasty looting in Ireland of all places. Most of them dont look very Irish. They’ll never get deported. I cant imagine living in another country and looting. smh…

That’s been almost completely unreported by the MSM here, Ric Fan. The amount of censorship by silence in the Media is stunning.

@Uncle Badger – as a wiser, and funnier man than I says: “Journalism is about covering important stories. With a pillow, until they stop moving.”

Stoaty may find this item from the WaPo amusing.

If we get glaciers I will enjoy seeing Chicago scoured from the earth.

I remember 20 January 1985 here in the Chicago area. Low temp hit 27F below zero (a tad greater than -32C). And the wind chills were greater than -80F (at least as they calculated the numbers back then). Just howling, howling winds all day and night, straight out of the north. Crazy cold. Went out every two hours to run my car for a bit to warm the engine. Otherwise, forget about trying to start it.

I was young and foolish then.

Off topic: Raising chickens, California style. $20,000 hen houses, super pedigree birds, chickens getting gourmet meals from their own chefs, smartphone apps, climate control, alarm systems, etc.

Pfft, I wish I lived as well as these critters.

Bring on the ice age. I can’t face another Florida summer. Ugh.

AoSHQ posted this link in the Saturday Gardening Thread. You may find some interesting tidbits from 150 years ago about urban poultry farming. (It takes a bit of time to load.)

Still trying to understand what happened with that gas explosion in Leicester. They made all these arrests but have yet to report what they actually did. They must have had a court appearance by now. Again, censorsip.

The ‘Ron & ‘Ette/Weasel-Badger crossover is pretty interesting.
